I will skip over most of Yossi's email and save you all from another
opinion. I do want to address what I think the actual content of his email
was, namely marking posts to this list to make them more useful. I have
been thinking about this for a while. One of the reasons I wanted to help
with the documentation is because of my impression that the same (or
similar) questions come up over and over on this list. They get answered,
but the docs don't get upgraded in such a way that that question won't be
asked as frequently again. Searching mail list archive is more of an art
than a science, simply because the questions and answers are generated by
humans and not computers. There are many ways to say the same thing and
often the answer is about something different than the question, because
the asker didn't understand the problem.

That said, what I would like is a standard way to mark the solutions to
problems so that they can be either added to the documentation or the
documentation can be reworded to be clearer. It would be great if the
person who asked the question could restate the answer in words that they
can understand, and then posted their understanding of the solution with
"SOLVED" or "ANSWERED" or something like that added to the title. Then it
would be easier for both documentators and archive searchers to find what
they are looking for: the answer, not the questions and dicussion.

If used in conjunction with something like Yossi proposed it would make
searching even easier for the documentation people. The system need to be
simple enough for people to actually use though. Perhaps if we agree on a
standard and after trying it out find that it works, Mike could add
something to the footer that the list adds that spells how the agreed upon
standards for posting messages (for new users).
