Can you break out of a [sql type=list] loop?

Is there any way to break out of a [sql type=list] loop early?  There are
tags for the [item-list] and [search-list] loops to terminate the loop, but
I see no equivalents for [sql].

I'd like to create a simple loop to display only the first 5 elements of the
result.  I've tried using [sql type=array] etc, but I can't get the eval
past the safe.

Thanks for any advice on how this could be accomplished.
