RE: Minivend error

Hal,

You'll need to get the permissions setup correctly on those files. Assuming
that you do not have root access to this system, you'll need to have the
Administrator (root) change the ownership of the files to your user.
If the root user installed minivend, the files are probably owned by that
user.

root will need to run the command
chown -R youruser:yourgroup mvend catalogs
from the directory above the mvend directory.

After you get ownership of the files from root, you may need to change the
permissions on some files.
To add group write permission use the command
chmod g+w <filename>
to remove group write permission
chmod g-w <filename>
to add world write permission
chmod o+w <filename>

I hope this is the helpful information you need! It would be good to pick
up a good book on UNIX to get going faster.

Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are
in heaviness through manifold temptations:
That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that
perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and
honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: Whom having not seen,
ye love; in whom, though now ye see [him] not, yet believing, ye rejoice
with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith,
[even] the salvation of [your] souls.

Hi,
 My problem....
I got support to install minivend .... everything belongs to "root".
When I first started minivend, it prompted "This should not be run as
root, would you like to start it as 'my user name here' ?" Sounded good
so I hit enter for (Y).
But..... It thens faults out on its config with read/write permission
errors on /root/mvend/admin/products/database.asc ( read/write to root)-
it goes ahead and starts.
But the demo and such just quickly returns "server error" ( can not
connect with the minivend stopped). I'm on a dedicated server ( without
true root access) Apache, freebsd
 - what to do?
In Christ
Hal
