Secure links back to Non-Secure pages

I am running minivend 3.12beta6 and it seems to run fine.
The problem I am having is with links from the secure
domain back to the non-secure domain.(ie. [include menubar])
In the checkout.html page, I have included a file sslmenubar
that has static HREF="http://www.myshop.com/cgi/simple/browse1"
and I lose
the basket contents if cookies are not enabled.
What I would like to is have the checkout.html reference
pages in the http:// domain without losing the contents.
This would include "Login" form, "Change Password",... and the
menubars as well.
Any help would be appreciated.
