Re: Setting up Minivend on RHL 5.2 w/ Perl 5.005_02--HELP!!!!!!
****** message to minivend-users from raisplin <raisplin@rcn.com> ******
OK, I just tried re-installing minivend-3.11 AGAIN..<sigh> here are the
steps I took, maybe someone can tell me where I went wrong....
all of this is done as root:
1) edited /var/named/db.domain added:
store IN CNAME ns1.domain.com.
(note: also changed serial number like one is supposed to)
2) restart named
3) edited httpd.conf added:
<VirtualHost 209.208.181.200>
User #517
ServerAdmin minivend@domain.com
DocumentRoot /www/docs/store.domain.com
ServerName store.domain.com
ErrorLog logs/store.domain.com-error_log
TransferLog logs/store.domain.com-access_log
ScriptAlias /cgi-store/ /www/cgis/store.domain.com
</VirtualHost>
note: user 517 is minivend according to /etc/passwd in group minivend
(517)
4) restart httpd
5) cd /usr/src
6) tar -zxvf minivend-latest.tar.gz
note: this created /usr/src/minivend-3.11
7) cd minivend-3.11
8) ./configure
(note: see first message for output...included any changes I made below)
Where is your MiniVend to be installed? [/root/mvend]
/www/docs/store.domain.com/mvend
opted not to make the simple catalog
9) was asked for admin name/passwd, entered them
10) chown -R minivend:minivend /www/docs/store.domain.com/
looking at permissions on the cgi directory:
drwxrwxr-x 2 minivend minivend 1024 Feb 20 22:35 store.domain.com
and for store.domain.com
-rw------- 1 minivend minivend 51786 Feb 20 22:50 error.log
drwxrwxr-x 9 minivend minivend 1024 Feb 20 22:35 mvend
drwxr-xr-x 3 minivend minivend 1024 Feb 20 22:35 simple
going through all of the sub directories for minivend reveals that all
files are set to
owner:group of minivend:minivend
10) ran makecat
11) su minivend
12) restarted server with the /bin/restart (in mvend direcotry)
13) Trying to access the store from
http://store.domain.com/cgi-store/simple results in a 404
14) Trying to access the store from http://store.domain.com/simple works
as far as bringing up
the first catalog page, but none of the links work, except the ones on
the line that reads
"Minivend Documentation (frames) and FAQ" at the very bottom...all other
links return a 404.
This is extremely frustrating...heh, installing and configuring the new
sendmail 8.9.x was easier
so what am I doing wrong here? I appreciate all the help that I have
gotten so far, but either I
am missing something, or something is extremely wrong.
Regards,
Greg
