OK, to answer this question (guess I should have been more thorough), 
yes, the user minivend exists and is also in the group minivend

/www/cgis/store.domain.com is the actual path to the cgi-bin directory 
for this domain.

/cgi-store is a ScriptAlias directive in the httpd.conf

actually what I have right now is just 1 domain with several subdomains 
like sub1.domain.com
sub2.domain.com so the directory strcture looks like

                            /cgis          /docs

           /store.domain1.com-|              |-/store.domain1.com
                              |              |
            /sub2.domain1.com-|              |-/sub2.domain1.com

ok, I just did as described above and have the _exact_ smae problem as 
before, absolutely _no_ change :/
