Including an existing SQL database into the MiniVend concept
****** message to minivend-users from Bjoern Koester <bjoern@webstrategy.de> ******
Hi MiniVenders ;-)
I have fully read the database section of the manual and almost
everything here in the mailing list, but didn't stumble upon a single
case in which an already existing database was said to be able to be
re-used for use in MiniVend. I read that MiniVend needs to populate e.g.
an mysql-based database itself before being able to using it.
I was wondering if there is anybody out there who has had any experience
at all including an already existing database into the MiniVend 3.11
concept without needing to mess around with the database structure. If
so, I would be glad to hear from your experiences. If not, I'd be
honored to hear what Mike Heins has to say about it ;-) Anyway, here's
my situation:
Let it be an mysql database from a different online shopping system with
a field name of the primary key *other* than "code" to be integrated
into an already set-up and working MiniVend online shopping system using
a ASCII-based products database. The mysql database would then still be
managed by the other shopping system administration, but ordering
products from the two different databases should also be working by
using one single shopping cart with the already existing MiniVend store.
Best regards,
Bjoern
