Boolean format?

I am experienceing some trouble searching a boolean field with a one-click
search. I have been using Microsoft Access format booleans ( 0 = false,
-1 = true) and my search is getting false positives. I wonder if I am
asking for trouble by using this format, or if I just don't understand the
minivend syntax. Here's a sample search:

<TD VALIGN=TOP><UL>
<LI> [page scan/se=-1/sf=Cars][L]Cars[/L][/page]

As far as I can tell by just reading the file, the field "Cars" is = -1 in
6 out of ten records, but the search above returns all 10 as valid.
Thoughts?
