minivend and mysql

Please.. anyone!
I've setup minivend 3.11 with mysql-3.22.16a-gamma, the problem is,
they both work great BUT, when I set the Database directive for
products to use mysql, I get:
- table products index failed: Column 'code' is used with UNIQUE or
INDEX but is not defined as NOT NULL
the products.sql file gets created with nothing in it. If I do NoImport
products I get no products on the subsequent web page. What the hell...
I'm new to SQL and minivend... has anyone come across this problem ????
I would greatly appreciate any insight...
