Saving User Info

I've noticed that 3.12 doesn't save user information the way it used to.
Previously (in 3.11) when you entered the shipping address on the checkout
page and placed an order or updated the information, the shipping address
etc was saved to the userdb. 3.12 no longer does this. Does anyone know
how to fix this?
