Delay page use

Hello List:
Has anyone used the "delay page" feature? This feature is supposed to
speed up the display of long lists. Docs are limited on explaining this.

mv_delay_page S Sets the page for delayed search display
Or, in a one click search: dp mv_delay_page

I have tried several variations of this one click search:
[page scan/se=1/sf=new/dp=yes]Search for NEW items![/page]
And get the results:

Minivend 3.11, on Sun Server, using products.gdbm

Does this only work with SQL files? Or, is the above syntax wrong?
Would be great to get this working if it speeds things up!
