I have had the same problem with microsoft excel, you can never set the text
delimiter to none, and if you do it still puts in all sorts of quotes.
The best way around this, I have found, is to import the excel file into
microsoft access, with a text delimiter of none, and make any adjustments in
access, then export it to an asc file from there.
Once I figured that out it has been smooth sailing...
