Multiple serve processes
****** message to minivend-users from Bill Betz <bill@pennherb.com> ******
Hello:
Using MV 3.11 on SunOS SPARCstation-20. All works fine except...
Sometimes, somehow, MV will have TWO serve processes running like this:
(ps -u bjr1)
UID PID PPID C STIME TTY TIME CMD
bjr1 9594 1 0 12:34:13 ? 0:00 /usr/local/bin/perl -w
/opt2/home3/catalog/mvend/bin/minivend -serve
bjr1 10257 1 0 12:34:13 ? 0:00 /usr/local/bin/perl -w
/opt2/home3/catalog/mvend/bin/minivend -serve
I don't know how this happens, but when it does, MV locks up and ceases
to work.
Only way to fix that I've found is to "kill -9" both processes, then
start MV again.
Even if you TRY to start MV when it is already running, it won't spawn
another serve process.
Does anyone know how this extra process gets out there, and if so, how
to prevent it from happening.
Thanks.
Bill Betz
