User-supplied text attribute/modifier per cart item?
****** message to minivend-users from "Walt Lillyman, NTBO, Inc.: http://www.ntbo.com" <waltl@ntbo.com> ******
Version info: MiniVend v3.11 on BSD/OS v3.1, Perl 5.004,
MySQL Server version 3.21.33b-log, one products table.
Problem:
How do I let the user _type_in_ the value of a modifier or
attribute per shopping cart item, so that it sticks with
the cart item, like color and quantity do?
Example: Personalized notepad paper. Product Code 2020 is
a blue 5x7 notepad. The buyer can have anything they want
imprinted on it. They tell me the text to be imprinted.
The problem I run into is when the buyer wants two such
notepads, each imprinted differently. My scratch variable
always contains the most recent text the buyer entered.
(Yes, I _have_ set "SeparateItems Yes" in catalog.cfg;
that is not the problem I'm describing here!)
"[item-accessories]" works swell when there's a list
of stuff in the table for the user to choose from.
But I can't populate my table with text I don't know!
"[item-modifier]" I haven't gotten to do anything...
How can I keep user-supplied text data associated with each
item in a shopping cart?
thanks
Walt;
