running minivend into 2 servers (secure and insecure).

I'm interested in hearing from someone who has successfully run minivend
on 2 servers,
one which users can openly access their files and contains minimum
sensitive data, and
a second server which is locked down as much as possible, and only
administrators can access. 
Sensitive data and any needed config files would be on this server. 

Specifically, what files (for minivend, and a store), end up on each
server? Are there kinks in this system, like possibily having to
duplicate some files on both systems?

I think this would make a great security FAQ question/anwser somewhere. :)
