Problems with French/portuguese characters

Hi All,
I'm using minivend 3.11 and I have a couple of search facilities
running.
The only problem is related with characters like "é" (#233) at the
end of a word.
Example:
In my products.asc I hame a record like
---------------------------------------
code name owner
1 beta José Carvalho
-------------------------------------
When i search for "José Carvalho" it returns no records. I can use
accentuated characters in a middle of a word and it works fine, but
at the end of the word it doesen't. I've even tried using %20 to
connect the two words but it doesn't work.
Could anybody help me on this?
