Re: so what's in the compiled script?

****** message to minivend-users from "Jonathon Spaeth" <jspaeth@mwis.net> ******

Minivend is written almost entirely in perl. Perl is compiled on runtime so
whenever you update your perl binaries, you do not need to change your
minivend files.

The only actually compiled programs are the cgi's, the tlink and vlink
programs. They don't need to change, either. Once you have those compiled,
unless you change something drastic about your server like your libraries
for example, you won't need to mess with those.

All of the files in the Vend directory are .pm files (perl module). You can
edit one of those (don't change anything) and see the actual code.

You can still add functionality to your perl installation by installing
dbd/dbi and odbc modules or something like that. Doing this will not cause
you to recompile anything. You just have to compile the new modules and
possibly change your minivend configuration files, but nothing else.

Hope this helped.
