[ic] interchange initial setup

Hi,
I am setting up interchange for the first time as root on my apache 1.3
server. I am having problems. My setup is as follows:

/home/www/my.domain.com/cgi-bin
/home/www/my.domain.com/htdocs

I am not sure what the location of catroot should be for the makecat
routine, it defaults to :

/var/lib/interchange/ic

but I am not sure if this is correct with regards to my webserver setup.
When I try to run interchange via my virtual host it does not work but I am
able to run the ic executable directly which provides the following result
in my browser:

Undefined catalog: /cgi-bin/ic

what should I do to fix this ?
