    Take a look at this part of the FAQ where it discusses permissions and
such.  If you are using vlink/tlink you are probably have a permissions
problem where the user that the web server is running as cannot communicate
with the interchange socket.

    Of couse this wouldn't account for the undefined catalog issue.
