[ic] Products inactive field not working!!!!!!!!

In the products table when I am setting a particular product (inactive =1)
means not to display a particular product.  Inspite of setting a particular
product to inactive, the product is being displayed in the search
results????  How can I change this so that only active products are
displayed in the search results and in all components???
