    That is actually how my code was, I typo-ed the message.  I didn't
appear to work for me, but now that I know that is proper way to do it I can
look elsewhere for the cause of my issue.  With that in mind, I now suspect
a userdb load is overwriting it, since I just realized that "myvar" is also
a field I added to the user database.  It's all so clear now.
