This is what's referred to in the relevant literature as a schroedinbug.
A schroedinbug is a bug that doesn't manifest itself until somebody
notices that the program never should've worked, at which point the
program stops working for everybody until it's fixed. :)

Just figured a little humor injection would be helpful.
