This is an update to my previous posting.
The rpm upgrade seemed to smoothly, but now my error.log shows:

/usr/lib/sendmail

Email to user fails to send. Sendmail is and was working fine. The
complete message gets logged into error.log.
icdebug says: Recipient names must be specified
