I would say that once IC is installed, you no longer need to be root.
Some would say they've even had success installing IC as a non-root
user.  The only drawback is that you probably won't be able to upgrade
IC when new versions are released.  From the aspect of running a
catalog, the admin super-user should be plenty of access.
