[ic] question about cross-selling between catalogs

Hi all,

My question is what if I have 4 catalogs on my site each selling similiar
computer products
but with different prices.  Now if customer 1 comes who comes from catalog
1, goes and buys
something from catalog 2, how do I keep track of the items, prices...etc
from catalog 2 when 
the customer checks out?

I believe I can use affiliates is just to keep track or users coming from
from catalog 1, but does 
affiliates have something that I can use for my problem?   If it can work,
I'm just not too sure 
how it all works...still in the learning stages :)
