Try not as root. Maybe you have a different PATH as root.
Still, 'chown executable' is odd. Like a script got mangled.
chown $something# executable
or some such where variable $something# is empty.
Did you unpack this UNIX? Or is it DOS mangled?
Look to see if you made the executable vlink. cd src and
make it. $something might not be there if the make did not
work.
