[ic] interchange Installation problems

I installed "Interchange" from the TARBALL.
Installation upgraded PERL to  version 5.8 and files were instaled in
/usr/local/interchange

I run the makecat and I am able to type in the Catalog Name.. I type in the
name "test" and I get an error: "Can't write y/etc/makecat.cfg: No such file
or directory"

Help !
