Try this:
[log file="mailinglist"
type="text"
create=1
hide=1
interpolate=1
][scratch my_mailinglist][/log]
If the "file" parameter starts with a ">" then you don't need to
specify the "create=1". I just think it looks cleaner. The part
you were missing was type="text".
