[ic] images aren't uploaded when adding a new item

Hello,

I am using the admin page to add items.  However, while I can select 
images and thumbnails from my hard drive to associate for an item, they 
don't get uploaded.  I have to upload them manually to the images/items 
directory.  Is this how it's supposed to work?  The images directory is 
owned by user "stewart", but the interchange user (interch) is a member 
of the stewart group.
