Check variable.txt, look for UI_IMAGE_DIR and UI_IMAGE_DIR_SECURE

they should look like '/interchange/' or just '/' and not
'/demostore/interchange/'

I think when running makecat you want to answer '/' for the question which
looks something like this:

Share Dir? (yourdomain.com/~yourname/interchange/en_US/etc,etc)
                           ^^^^^^^^^^
