I agree with Ven, however, if you are new to unix/linux and have
never used vi, pico may be a bit easier for you to learn. I usually
use 'pico -w filename.ext' when using it. The -w will keep your
lines that are wider than your terminal from wrapping.

Windows I recommend UltraEdit
Mac I recommend BBEdit
Unix I recommend vi
Frontpage has a nice tendency to mangle stuff. but then again I dont
think I've seen a microsoft product that doesn't.
