[ic] installing rpm error

Tried to install manually, did not work,
now trying the rpm file.

I am installing the rpm file into
/usr/local/etc/httpd/htdocs/username/interchange

Here is the error:

Bareword found where operator expected at -e line 1, near "1.rh6"
        (Missing operator before rh6?)
syntax error at -e line 1, near "1.rh6"
Execution of -e aborted due to compilation errors.

please tell me how to get arround this error of a missing character in line
one.
No matter how I try to install or run this, I get this error.
