[ic] [perl] tag question

I need to be able to use the [perl][/perl] tag but I need to be able to
tell it what database it is going to access via a variable and not a
hardcoded value.  [perl tables="[value dbname]"] doesn't seem to
work.  Any easy ways to do this?
