[mv] Minimate Help - open_table

I figured I would post this here since I dont think many use Minimate 
with interchange and a lot of people seemed to use it with minivend.

Running Minimate 4.04 with interchange 4.6.5  Everything works fine 
except the meta database items.

I've scanned the archives, found many mentions of this error, but 
found no specific solutions.

I always get a error of
[21/May/2001:17:45:17 -0400] re2 /cgi-bin/re2/process.html Runtime 
error: Can't call method "open_table" on an undefined value at
/usr/local/interchange/lib/Vend/Data.pm line 872.

when I try to update or insert a "tag"

I've inserted one row into the DB (though none of them worked beforehand).

products::status  select      status  products  Status 
S=Sold,N=New,R=Reduced

for testing I've made the db chmod 666 so there is read/write which is okay.
I've tried numberous things for the past 8 hours and figured maybe 
someone would know.

Also is there supposed to be a entry in the catalog.cfg for the db?
Database    mv_metadata          mv_metadata.asc    TAB
