[ic] [cat-exec bar_link]cat[/cat-exec] , how is this used?

I am using the search functionality that comes with  "construct demo".

I see [cat-exec bar_link]cat[/cat-exec] generates a search/scan link
for each category.  

How do I modify the search functionality (notably set ml=???),
I don't see this anywhere in the documentation...

Can someone point me in the right direction?
