keep the list of categories in which any particular product belongs
in a separate table and JOIN
products table
sku product
1 Foo
2 Bar
3 Gletch
categories table
cc description
1 Big shiny things
2 Dull drab things
3 Everything else
4 The universe
relations
sku cc
1 1 # Foo is a big shiny thing
1 4 # everything is in The Universe
2 2
2 4
3 3
3 4
