[mv] mvend process memory consumption

I have looked at the consumption of resources on our
server and it shows that perl instance is being run by
minivend at all times, consuming 11MB or RAM.  Is it
something that is supposed to be happening?

If not, what could be a possible cause?

I would much appreciate any help.
