[mv] Died in server spawn: Problem
****** message to minivend-users from Chris Weston <CWeston@snorter.demon.co.uk> ******
Hello everyone.
I would be very grateful if you would forgive my ignorance in some of
the matters that I am going to ask you about. I have tried to solve
this problem in as many ways as my limited knowledge of Perl will allow,
to no avail.
Here's the bad news. I'm running Minivend on a W95 Intel box, running
Microsoft Personal Web Server. Sorry.
I've installed Perl 5.0004 from the CPAN site mentioned in the Minivend
documentation. That seems fine, and the minivend server starts when I
call it.
Here's the problem, when I try to run a catalog program, like simple.exe
from the demo, or the configure.htm wizard, the server produces this
message
Died in server spawn: Modification of a read-only value attempted at
C:\PERL\lib\site/auto/Storable/thaw.al line 13, <SESSION> chunk 2, at
/mvend/lib/Vend/Util.pm line 526
This seems such a fundamental problem that I thought it must be my
perl installation, so I reinstalled that, reinstalled minivend, added
the minivend library directories to the PERL5LIB environment variable
(which just made things worse) and am now stuck.
I therefore beg your forgiveness if I have missed something utterly
obvious, but it seems so fundamental, as I said earlier, that it must
have been experienced by somebody else.
Anybody?
Kind regards
