Hello,
This problem maybe somewhat off topic however Minivend will not connect
to the database until I get it solved. Also someone might point me to a
mailing list that could answer if no one here can.
Here is the problem:
I upgraded from this:RH 5.2
2.0.36-7 kernel
MiniVend 3.14-3
Perl 5.004.04
Postgres 6.5.1
DBI-1.13
DBD-0.92
gcc/egcs off of RH 5.2 distribution
to this:RH 6.1
2.2.13 kernel
MiniVend 3.14-3
Perl 5.005.03
either one, same error on both
Postgres 6.5.1
Postgres 6.5.3 (current)
DBI-1.13
DBD-0.92
either one, same error on both
gcc/egcs 1.1.2 off of RH 6.0
distribution(current)
gcc/egcs 1.1.2 off of RH 6.1 distribution
I believe my problem started when I installed the new Perl. It was an
RPM
off the 6.1 disk. The older perl I compiled along with DBI and DBD on the
machine under 5.2. Worked great. After upgrade of perl DBI couldn't
connect
MiniVend to the database anymore. I've tried to recompile DBI and Perl
5.004.04
on the new system. It errors out on a "make ?file?.o" after not being able
to
find several include files. A short example from a failed DBI compile
below.
In file included from /usr/include/signal.h:294,
from /usr/lib/perl5/5.00503/i386-linux/CORE/unixish.h:93,
from /usr/lib/perl5/5.00503/i386-linux/CORE/perl.h:1121,
from DBIXS.h:19,
from DBI.xs:10:/usr/include/bits/sigcontext.h:28: asm/sigcontext.h: No such
file or directory
make: *** [DBI.o] Error 1
Here is what I've done:
1. The path /usr/include/bits/sigcontext.h is there.
2. The path asm/sigcontext.h is present in
/usr/i386-glibc20-linux/include
and
/usr/src/linux-2.2.13/include (thru an asm@ that is a
directory)
3. Tried to subscribe to the DBI mailing list however it bounced.
4. MiniVend archieve list pointed the error to DBI not connecting
5. Got and install bug fixes for RH6.1 from RH site.
6. Kernel compiles OK.
7. perl Makefile.PL works ok
8 Error only on make.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Karl
