Our server is not located in our local time zone.
I am trying to figure out how to adjust
[tag time]%d-%b-%Y %H:%M[/tag] to display our local adjusted time
without much success.
The server has a local time adjustment that I can display
either through a perl script or by typing "virtual date"
at the prompt in my shell. This would suffice as a secondary option.
I would like to know how to make and return the results of this command
in minivend?

Well as i saw the answers goes here.... here is my little advice...:
you can just change the
SpecialPage order (FILENAME)
in the catalog.cfg so it will display somthing else...,
for example if you want a short list of the cart in the left frame
or top frame, you can set the (FILENAME) to frames/top
and it will refresh that frame everytime that a product will be
added to the cart...
Quite simple....,
There is another way which does the same, which mighty mike wrote,
you can see it in the minivend site in the sample cart, (you can download
it too...)
Enjoy!,

****** message to minivend-users from "Christopher P. Lindsey" <lindsey@mallorn.com> ******
Out of curiosity, has anyone tried making SSI directives work from within
minivend?
I have a site that wraps all content with SSI, but now that I'm adding
a catalog the SSI is a lot less useful. The biggest problem is that
many of the files include other files -- otherwise it would be a lot
more straightforward.
For now I just un-SSIed the catalog, but it would be really slick to
have one set of files to edit globally (and no, I won't run the whole
site through minivend :)
Just a thought, not pressing or even important... So has anyone tried
this?

I am not sure what your vars signify, but the best way I have found to
carry extra data around the cart system is to declare some item modifiers
in the catalog.cfg (UseModifier entry). Then I can set them with a form
fied and display them with an [item-modifie] tag:
In catalog.cfg -
#
#
#UseModifier mymodifier
On the flypage.html or other pertinent page -
for input:
<input type=text name=mv_order_mymodifier value="[item-modifier mymodifier]">
or just display:
[item-modifier mymodifier]
You can include the [item-modifier...] tag(s) in you receipt and report
files as well, and you can insert them in the routine (in the report file
on the simple demo) for writing an order to transactions db.

I'm not sure, but it looks like localization is not set up properly for

Hello,
I try to make a currency convertion inside a [perl] tag. I've tried
many things like the safe_tag function but I didn't manage to make it work.
A simple use like "[perl]$i=[currency]1000[/currency];return $i;[/perl]" work
but I want to use it for :
[perl]$i=1000;$j=currency]$i[/currency];return $j;[/perl]
Do you have any ideas ?
Thanks.

Subject: [mv] Discount not rounding correctly
****** message to minivend-users from "quzax" <quzax@minwell.com> ******
I have set up & have working a discount system for one of our clients. I
have two questions about how discounts work.
Problem #1 I have a 10% discount set for each item individually. this works
fine in the cart & all except when I have more than one of the item the
price is then off by $.01. I have the following code in my basket.html to
display the line subtotal (discount price x qty):
[currency]
[calc]
([discount-price noformat] * [item-quantity])
[/calc]
[/currency]
This seams to work except that the line total(extension) has $.01 extra.
This appears to be a rounding problem $8.95 * .1 = .895. Minivend is just
dropping the third decimal place off instead of rounding up. Is there anyway
I could make minivend round the price up? Or would this cause additional
problems?
example:
QTY Price Extension
2 $8.05 $16.11
Item is discounted $0.89
Original price is $8.95
Also I am trying to discount an item based on if the customer is a member of
the club & they are purchasing 3 of this item. Thus far I have been unable
to get this to work. I don't have any code for this that has worked even
remotely. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

the problem is the name of the variable. Aboubacar has a select box like
<select name="[loop-code].letter1">
^^^^^^^^^^^^
How can you handle a variable name, who is unknown or not static? First,
i have wrote some different solutions with fetching cgi-query-string.
But i don“t know the real problem of Abuobacar and so on, i have deleted
my different solutions and i hope, Aboubacar are able to get the value
of the ( dynamic ) variable. I have not hear about success or not.

****** message to minivend-users from Brian Wright <bdw@aturna.com> ******
Hi, Minivenders!
I'm a Minivend webmaster, and I've run into the following problems with
credit card processing. We're using CyberCash:
1) If a customer calls my client and requests a refund, my client does
not have the credit card information from the customer. When an order
is processed, the report file just mentions that the card is a CyberCash
Credit Card. My client needs to know what type of card it is, along
with the number so he can process refunds. To my knowledge, CyberCash
doesn't seem to have any administrative stuff vial SSL that would allow
my client to find out what the card number and card type were used in
processing an order
2) How can I set up the report page to display the card type,
expiration date, and the card number when my client receives an order?
He's been having problems with cards being double-charged, and he has to
process refunds within 24 hours.
Thanks,
Brian

Actually, if you do this instead:
[tag header]
Status: 204 No content
[/tag]
It should just register the item and not do anything.
Now, this creates all sorts of other problems, but I won't
go into that again. I am on record as saying that this
is a very bad way to run a catalog, and if the user doesn't
believe me I won't argue with them.

Point your browser at http://cr.cybercash.com and click the red login
button. You'll need the username and password you entered when you setup
the merchant account with cybercash (usually the company's full name with
no spaces and whatever you defined for a password) The reports have all
the info about credit cards, batching, and you can manually process returns
thru that page.

You can't. If you're using CyberCash, the credit card info is NEVER stored
on your minivend server. It is transmitted to CyberCash and then removed
from ram without ever being filed anywhere. (Someone correct me if I'm
wrong, but this is how I believe it works.)

This is correct, though if you have EncryptProgram set up to be PGP
it will encrypt the credit card for you and store it in mv_credit_card_info.
(I am glad this came up because I want to remember to look for GPG as
well.)

Subject: [mv] Strange message in error log
****** message to minivend-users from Eric Paul <epaul@spellbook.net> ******
I was looking thru my error log, and right after the latest order that got
processed I found this error message:
[20/December/1999:16:10:57 -0500] starfire /cgi-bin/starfire/process
Difficulty interacting with browser: No action passed from form
What exactly does this message mean? Does this mean the user clicked the
back button after he got his confirmation, or did they not get any
confirmation at all, or something completely different?

Yup, that's a hint that you don't need glimpse.

I think one of your accessories-category products was messing up
your products db. Try re-entering them one at a time until it fails.

As I recall, the rounding problem is a Perl issue and has been discussed in

Yup, that's it! No, just kidding. Why don't you try downloading
3.14 from minivend.com? OR, have you followed the last
instruction? 'Please rerun the manke command'?
Keep trying.

Of course, I use [file include=...] to include the files I
modularize the rest of my site with. If you use any conditionals in your
included files you could easily translate them into perl and they will work
with minivend.

Subject: [mv] PGP - A little help
****** message to minivend-users from Ed LaFrance <edlafrance@printexusa.com> ******
We are nearly almost kinda ready to go public with our cart. The last step
is implementing PGP for credit numbers. It took some doing but our ISP
finally got the latest command line PSP installed on their Unix server and
I have configured our catalog. Two problems remain that hopefully someone
can help with:
1). I used pgp -kx to make a copy of the default signing and public key
and imported them on the Mac the receiver of the encrypted data will be
using (which has the Mac version of PGP installed). When we try to decrypt
CC number attachments from order report emails, we get this message:
"Decryption cannot continue because you do not have any private keys
matching the public keys listed below" and it lists the imported key. My
confusion aside, does anyone know how I give the Mac client the info it
wants from the PGP on the server? The PGP docs suggest it can be done but
do not provide syntax or examples.
2). Man, order submission is slow now! Since setting up and enabling
encryption it now takes about FIVE TIMES as long for the order to process.
Does anyone know why this would be, or how to speed it up?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can provide some input.
