MV4 SQL Problem with userdb

The installation of the SQL simple version of MV4 went very smoothly. It
is my first SQL installation. All I really needed to do was to create th
test_minivend database in mySQL, then run makecat - and there it was and
worked!
Now, I have some problem with the userdb. My registration works and the
user is recorded in mySQL userdb. However, when I try to log in, theere
is no reaction and no error messages on the page nor in error_log. When
I try to register again, the username already exists.
As I checked the mySQL userdb, I noticed that in the 3rd colom (acl)
there is a timestamp. The Country entry is two fiels off, the same
applies to the mv_shipmode. (I have no other entries so far). I have
added [tag export userdb][/tag] to the new_account page and can see,
that the timestamp is not in the acl colum, but (correctly) in the
mod_time column. There seems to be a discrepancy between userdb.txt and
mySQL userdb.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is this a problem that I may have
caused due to lack of experience with SQL? I would be surpriced, since I
have done nothing else but created a mySQL Database test_minivend and
allocated global priviledges to minivend (owner of minivend).
Any hints would be highly appreciated.
Chris
