RE: [mv] Using database files
There is a distinct difference between text (ascii) files on unix and M$.
If a text file even touches a M$ file system, the file will never be read
properly bye a Unix system. You need a little utility called dos2unix it is
a filter, you can get it from sunsite in the utils/text directory I think,
you use it like this :
bash# dos2unix < input_file > outputfile
or if you are brave :)
bash# dos2unix file_name
That should fix the problem, oh yeah one other thing, make sure that there
is actually a tab between each field in that file.

Subject: [mv] Using database files
****** message to minivend-users from Deborah Gray

Hello again,
Another day of frustration...I am trying to make changes to the products
database of our site. I downloaded the products.asc file, opened it in
Notepad and made the changes. I then uploaded the file (in ASCII), which
replaced the old one. When I tried to use the site, I got an Internal
Server error. Luckily there was an old copy on the site that I renamed.
What am I doing wrong? I tried uploading the file in binary, but that
didn't work. I looked at the FAQ, and read the Database section, but I
couldn't find the answer to my question.
TIA,
Deborah
