The same goes for me. I remember I downloaded Minivend about 18 months
ago for the first time. I was coming from the dos windows world with no
experience at all on Linux or any other flavor of *nix. I couldn't even
get the demo stuff to run and I worked on it for about two months before
I decided I just didn't have enough background knowledge to even get
started, so I bought some books and at least got my head above the
grass. I still feel completely incompetent but work hard at learning
every day. I can see that some knowledge of perl would make life a
great deal easier, so I bought another book. My site is truly just the
demo site modified with my products and I still don't feel comfortable
with trying to do a complete overhaul of the layout. The site Loy Ellen
Gross did just goes to show me how little I really know, hers is slick,
but I'm not giving up, it's just a matter of acquiring more knowledge.
Hang in there and don't give up.
