I setup my httpd.conf like it says in the minimate manual 
(<Locationmatch>) I changed the /cgi-bin/simple/+(admin|config)
to one of my stores
/cgi-bin/bstore/+(admin|config)

Then where it states
AuthUserFile /home/minivend/users
I pointed this to my .htpasswd file.
I removed the empty .access files cause it kept telling me my page 
could not be found.

restarted/hup'd apache and it works.


So now my locationmatch looks like this..
<LocationMatch /cgi-bin/bstore/+(config|admin)>
AuthType Basic
AuthUserFile /usr/home/bstore/.htpasswd
AuthName "MiniVend Administration"
require valid-user
</LocationMatch>
