GDBM and session file getting mashed with saved carts

Okay, desperation is setting in....

Everytime I save and recall carts, my session.gdbm gets hosed beyond the
capability of expireall to handle. That  script and any subsequent general
browsing give Fatal Error - syntax error at the cart's name or a server 500
error. The only way I've been able to fix in the past is to killl the entire
session.gdbm and user dbs and start over. This is a lousy solution as all
users get wiped, all saved carts get hosed as well.

The only solution I've found in the docs is a 1997 messages about changing
the version of GDBM perl is using. Unfortunatley I don't know where the heck
this is located on my ISP or how to find out what version should be used.
Both my simple and "real" catalogs have this problem so I trust its not a
true MV problem (of course not!!) but the members of this list would seem to
be my best chance at a solution.

If I can bag this GDBM db and use mysql or something for sessions, I would
be ecstatic.

Also, I'm willing to pay for a solution! Please help!
