Download Files/Pages Problem

i am really stucked in a small problem. trying to download a file/page of a
catalog always gets displayed in the browser instead of asking for
file/save. when running a small cgi with Content-type apllication/binary\n\n
it works perfect. when trying to do the same with the download demo (gone
back to it after my page/tag made a problem)  included in simple i get the
file also displayed in the browser. this happens both on IE 4/5 and Netscape
4.7.

any hint would be appreziated.
