Re: [off-topic add-on] Re: [mv] minivend and sql, it is not true
i think there are a lot of advantages of minivend against other products.
one, and this is a main one, is that because of the GPL the source code is
included and you can do everything you want or just use it as it is. pricing
is not really the thing, because i think in the bigger projects a lot of
money are involved. in our project running since 1996 a total of ~ 10 Mio
ATS (~ 800K US$) and a lot of work is involved. we have choosen minivend
because then, if some errors occur, the fault is on our side and we can
correct it immediatly. no delay because of any software vendor can happen.
minivend runs fine here in 2 main projects, one running ~ 500.000 titles in
mysql with 8 extra tables and a total of 4 million records for seaching &
displaying the products and second going online on wednesday next week with
at the moment 10200 shops realised basicly based on flycat. all 9 servers
are running under freebsd. not to forget the shops rented to customers witch
are not as big, but some of them have up to ~ 20K products. for us, involved
only in running/providing e-commerce it was the right descission and it is
time to say a big "THANK YOU" to mike for making this great software public
available.
best regards,
Karl
