Why does MV take so much overhead?

This is a terrible amount of computer usage!
30% of the CPU and 16 MG of RAM for every process of the minivend program!!!
I usually have 5+ conncurrent processes. This loads the server to WAY TOO
MUCH proportions.
Does anyone know how to make MV take less resources?
