Newbie socket hang problem --rather long
Okay, I give up. I've been breaking my teeth over this for three days
now, have searched the archives, but can find no help.
SO, gentle listmates. please HELP me!
I am new to minivend. I installed the demo catalog successfully.
Satisfied that I could at least get that far without any problems I
shut down the server, removed the mvend and minivend directories, rm
-ed the tlink (?) program from my cgi-bin, and started over.
Unfortunately, on my next attempt, I was unable to access the
...:7786/mv_admin page. The server just hung. I was able to get the
splash page for the demo store, but was unable to go further. Samer
problem. Be3cause I had changed the color specs for the catalog, an
innocent enough beginning, I stopped, stripped and reinstalled the
packaged, ran ./configure, without problems, but got the same
problem.
Having been unable in the past to restart my Apache server for 70
horrible hours about two years ago because of an undetected zombie
process, I am loath to shut down Apache without some expert
assistance form this list first.

I checked to see if I had created a zombie. No zombie. At least not
in the accepted Apache-recognizeable sense, or to me anyway.
