UPS Shipping Offer/Request
Hi,
Wondering if there are any takers for this. I've spent the last couple of
(long) days coming up with a "complete" UPS shipping solution for my
minivend catalog. By complete I mean it calculates the following, ALL based
on the UPS zone and rate files downloadable from the UPS web site:
US
--
UPS Ground
UPS 3 Day
UPS 2 Day
UPS Next Day
UPS Next Day Saver
(this includes Alaska and Hawaii - not a shipping file formula but the
actual rates charged by UPS based on weight and zip code)
Canada
------
UPS/CA Standard
UPS/CA 3 Day Expedited
UPS/CA Next Day
International
-------------
All countries (except Mexico - but it would be easy to add back in) arranged
alphabetically
I'd be happy to upload all these files to a server somewhere so people can
download them, use them, look at them, change them, whatever.
Some of the settings (zone files) I have will differ for folks in other
areas, but at least you'll have an example to go by. I am missing one small
piece of this puzzle, however, and was wondering if a PERL person out there
would be interested in taking up the challenge of writing a routine that
handled the "Extended Area Shipping" charges that apply to some postal codes
in the Canada 3-day and next day rate files. Basically, the last column in
the zone file that applies to those shipping options contains Y's and N's (Y
= EAS rates apply, N = they don't). If they do apply, the greater of $20 or
($.20 x total lbs.) is tacked on to the standard shipping rate. It sounds
like something that is do-able, no? Alas, not by me. I figure that with a
routine like that in place, this could practically be a complete cut and
paste solution to UPS shipping from the US. Takers?
